Experience & Qualifications

  • AWS DevOps Engineer certification.
  • At least 3-6 years of professional experience in a DevOps or related role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of these AWS services: S3, EC2, RDS, Lambda, Kinesis, CloudFront, CloudWatch.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of modern deployment practices and tools.
  • AWS Security, Data Analytics, Database, and/or Advanced Networking certifications.
  • Experience working in a team using Agile development and project management practices.
  • Experience using AWS’s Athena, Lambda@Edge, and QuickSight services.
  • Experience with data warehousing/lakes and “big data” concepts.
  • Experience with digital ad servers, SSPs, or ad exchanges.
  • Experience with digital advertising units, terminology and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design cloud infrastructure that is secure, scalable, and highly available on AWS
  • Work collaboratively with software engineering to define infrastructure and deployment requirements
  • Provision, configure and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure defined as code
  • Ensure configuration and compliance with configuration management tools
  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux based systems
  • Troubleshoot problems across a wide array of services and functional areas
  • Build and maintain operational tools for deployment, monitoring, and analysis of AWS infrastructure and systems
  • Perform infrastructure cost analysis and optimization
  • Advise and support developers on efforts to automate and improve deployment practices.
  • Take primary responsibility for automated monitoring and alerting; control the response schedule for issues, and be the first line of defense when a system problem occurs, escalating as needed.
  • Aid in the architecture and deployment of new systems.
  • Monitor and tune system performance. Make sure we can and do scale well; recognize potential scaling issues and bring forth solutions when they are observed.
  • Own our security practices and make sure our developers are following them properly.
  • Own permissions and roles within the AWS stack.
  • Provide these functions for those elements of our stack which exist outside AWS as well.

  • 4+ years running production systems on AWS.
  • Certified AWS SysOps Administrator preferred.
  • Experience with TypeScript & JavaScript
  • Experience with DynamoDB, S3, and Cognito
  • Good understanding of Serverless and CloudFormation
  • Experience with site monitoring and log monitoring tools

Responsibilities

  • Manage the state of all components in our Amazon cloud infrastructure
  • Manage overall site availability, latency, and system health
  • Determine alert strategies for production environments, and implement them
  • Monitor and troubleshoot site performance issues
  • Monitor for vulnerabilities
  • Manage deployment, upgrade, and patching efforts
  • Develop and manage configuration scripts for Amazon hosted infrastructure
  • Work with the development team to design deployment, upgrade, and patching strategy
  • Work with the development team and management to ensure high availability and security
  • Respond to alarms and outages on an as-needed basis
